Muir Lake School Evacuation - Friday April 12, 2024

Friday, April 12, 2024 - We just wanted to provide an update that led to a disruption near the end of the school day at Muir Lake School. PSD's Facilities Services department was dispatched to Muir Lake School in response to an alarm at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Fire protocols were enacted immediately and effectively to ensure the safety of all of our staff and students even though staff knew from the onset that alarms were tripped by smoke from cooking in the kitchen. Students and staff left the building and went to their designated meeting area.

Once clearance was given by our Facilities Services staff who isolated and confirmed the alarm, the day was able to resume after about a 45-minute delay. Since it was so close to final dismissal, students were instructed to retrieve any homework and personal belongings and get ready for their end-of-the-day routine and wait outside for their regular ride home.
